Woman sexually assaulted

The victim was then allegedly forcefully grabbed by the suspect and taken into nearby bushes, where he proceeded to sexually assault her

What started as a normal day for a young local woman on her way to work was only met with tragedy that same morning.

The victim recalled getting off a taxi that dropped her in close proximity to a local shopping centre where she works when an unknown male approached her.

The man allegedly appeared to have been standing at a nearby tree when he emerged and pointed her with a firearm; the man allegedly threatened her and then proceeded to take her personal belongings.

The victim recalls that, upon instruction, she handed everything over to the suspect and had been hopeful that this would guarantee her safety thereafter.

The victim was then allegedly forcefully grabbed by the suspect and taken into nearby bushes, where he proceeded to sexually assault her.

She was then told to leave after the assault.

The victim was unavailable for comment upon printing of this article.

Another woman was also sexually assaulted on Saturday June 22.

The victim was allegedly at a local tavern when she was cat-called by the suspect who then approached her and started sharing personal stories.

The victim recalls that she was insulted by the suspect through foul remarks; the suspect appeared amused by these remarks because he proceeded to laugh.

She recalls that the suspect was persistent about buying her a beer, which resulted to her eventually giving in; it is at this moment that he allegedly made the request to go back to her house with her.

The victim eventually obliged, and upon arrival at her home he then allegedly proceeded to sexually assault her.

The trauma of being raped or sexually assaulted can be shattering and life-threatening.

Victims are encouraged to seek help from local rape support centres and also remember that the incident is never their fault, and even though victim-blaming is common, they are not to blame.
