Vintage fair coming up
Currently the Moth Cottages accommodate seventy-four residents in sixty three units; a number of the residents only receive government pensions.
The annual Vintage Fair will be held at the Moth Cottages in Rhodes Street again.
This year’s fair on Saturday, September 7 from 09:00 promises to be bigger and more varied than ever before; there will be something to entertain the whole family from the youngest child to the oldest granny and everyone in between.
There are food stalls to satisfy and enchant everyone’s pallet from braai with ‘pap and sous’, wors rolls, pancakes, jaffles, curry and rice, ‘vetkoek’ and yankee stix.
There will be delicious home-made cakes, puddings, doughnuts and koeksisters that will delight those with a sweet tooth; take some home to entertain your family and friends or sit in the lapa and enjoy your cake with a cup of tea or coffee.
There will be a shooting range for the adventurous, venison will be on sale for those who enjoy the meat of wild animals but are unable to go hunting.
The rugby fans will be able to get their teams’ jersey or flag.
A variety of cheeses will also be on sale for the connoisseurs.
Ice cold liquid refreshments will cool you down after visiting the various stalls.
The ladies and anyone looking for a bargain or the opportunity to purchase an early Christmas gift must visit the white elephant stall, the arts and crafts, the make up brushes, hand bags or the bath salts stalls and many more including those selling jams and chillies.
Those interested in music should check out the Jukeboxes.
The youngsters will also be able to have their faces painted, they will be able to paint plaster of paris models and a wide variety of toys will be available, the tombola stall will offer them the opportunity to fish out a prize.
Even the gardener will have a variety of plants and wire ornaments to choose from, the bookworms will be able to satisfy their reading programme for months at the book stall.
There is also a raffle of a wheelbarrow of alcohol to be won by those who want to stock up their bar for Christmas.
The Vintage Fair is being held to raise funds to assist the Moths to provide quality accommodation for their residents at an affordable price.
