Generous reader, an angel amongst us
According to Annelize Aucamp from the CMR welfare, the boy is now in a place of safety and the case against his mother is being investigated
After the 1-year old baby boy made headlines after being found abandoned in Spring Valley, a reader made a generous donation to make eMalahleni a safer place for these types of children.
WITBANK NEWS did an article on October 14 about the baby boy that was found all by himself.
“The sight of this little boy all by his lonesome self shocked the community of Spring Valley to such an extent that a resident hysterically phoned the police on October 14. ER24 ambulance services were dispatched to the scene to assist with medical treatment as the little boy was dehydrated and visibly weak,” the article further stated.
According to Annelize Aucamp from the CMR welfare, the boy is now in a place of safety and the case against his mother is being investigated.
After this touching story was read by a resident that wants to stay anonymous he made contact with Maureen Scheepers, the founder of the SACCW Babybox project in eMalahleni, offering the full amount for the next baby box to be placed near Spring Valley.
On the same day Ms Antoinette Deiner from Victim Support contacted her to offer a site in Vulture Street, Reyno Ridge close to one of the entrances of Spring Valley for the baby box.
Being over emotional because of this generous act of kindness Scheepers broke down in tears although it was tears of joy.
The news quickly went viral after a post was shared on social media.
“I didn’t mean to make you cry but I read the WITBANK NEWS story and just couldn’t imagine these young children just being discarded. I honestly pray that even if only one child is saved by these boxes it would be worth putting them everywhere,” was the message that the anonymous reader sent Scheepers after reading the viral post.
Maureen extended her gratitude on behalf of SACCW to the anonymous donor “He is a hero in my eyes, lives will be saved because of his donation.”
“We are all set to go with a site and the financed box, installation will take place shortly” said Scheepers.
“We are aiming to install the next baby box in CBD as this was our top ranked area based on statistics for babies that have been abandoned in Emalahleni. Prior to the Spring Valley incident, all the other babies were dumped in CBD. This is definitely our next target area. We have an approved site in the area and now just need to get the box financed. If there is anyone who wants to reach out and support this cause, they can contact me on 082 565 6770,” she concluded.
