Dry season for ‘druggies’ and dealers, when caught on N4-highway

Witbank SAPS cracked down a drug dealer transporting a large amount of dagga on the N4-highway.
On November 15 Witbank SAPS flying squad and Crime Intelligence members followed up information about a vehicle that was transporting a huge amount of dagga from Nelspruit to Pretoria, Gauteng.
The members pulled off the suspicious white Toyota Corolla on the N4 highway near eMalahleni and searched the suspected vehicle.
In this vehicle, from the boot to the back seat the police found a total of 112 kilograms of dagga which is worth more than R300 000 on the streets.
The 33-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on November 15 but the case was postponed until November 22 while the suspect remains in custody.
According to the provincial spokesperson of SAPS, Brig. Leonard Hlhati Witbank police conducted several stop and search operations from Thursday the November 14 to Sunday November 17.
In another case of dealing in drugs on November 16 at 17:00 policing members were patrolling in Lukin Street in the Central Business District (CBD) when they searched a 38-year old South African citizen and found 18 pinches of heroine in his possession.
He appeared in the Witbank Magistrate court on Monday the November 18 on charges of dealing in drugs.
The case was postponed to the November 25 and he will remain in custody.
“The operations were held during the day from 10:00 to 18:00 and were aimed at crime hot spot areas in eMalahleni. During the operations a total of 17 drug users which included 15 men and two women were arrested in possession of drugs specifically dagga all over Witbank policing precinct,” he concluded.
