eMalahleni’s residential roads are often marked by street names placed on road markers above the ground, but these street names usually don’t last long before they’re torn from the ground or completely demolished by reckless drivers.

“The street names in Ben Fleur are regularly destroyed by drivers, who I assume must be drunk in order to drive over them, and it’s hurting my business because clients complain that they struggle to find my premises,” a Ben Fleur business owner, who would like to stay anonymous, lamented, “I’ve contacted the municipality before, but nothing gets done. And if something does get done, it only lasts a few days before another driver destroys it.”
Emalahleni Local Municipality was approached for comment, however no response had been received at the time of publication.
