No forms, no explanation from department
Just imagine getting to the front of the line, after spending a good few hours in the queue, just to be told you can not be assisted
Already it is a mission to go to the licence office to tend to the dreary paperwork when it comes to renewing car licences, deregistering vehicles and more.
Just imagine getting to the front of the line, after spending a good few hours in the queue, just to be told you can not be assisted because they do not have face value forms to print your vehicle’s details on.
This is exactly what made two local residents hot under the collar.
Ms Martha Harder tried to deregister her car after it was stolen during a hi-jacking.
But she had to return twice because the necessary face value forms were not available.
“I was furious. I was not told about this hick-up before I went through all the trouble of queuing! I am a senior citizen and also an easy target, yet I tried to do the right thing by going through all the processes just to be left running around trying to sort everything out before my insurance company comes from Pretoria to collect all the car’s papers.”
Sharing her frustration is Mr Wessels van As.
“On November 8 I went to the license office to apply for a duplicate registration certificate for a trailer I sold.”
When returned to the licensing department to enquire about his application, he was told that since February last year the department had not received any documents from the Department of Roads and Transport in Mbombela.
“According to the people I spoke to, the department does not even respond to their queries,” Van As said.
These queries were taken up with the Department of Roads and Transport and also the local municipality.
But just as in the case of Ms Harder and Mr Van As no answers were provided by the time going to press.
