Ask questions about the Masjid Mosque this Saturday

Their quest for a decent sized land in an easy to reach location, to meet the needs of their worshippers began early in the year 2000

The Masjid Mosque officially opened three months ago.

The opening of the actual Mosque took place on Friday, November 8, 2019 and the board of the Witbank Muslim Jamaat continued to host several ‘Ulema’ preachers and members of the broader Muslim community of South Africa over the weekend as well.

“Residents are well aware of the struggles we underwent to see this most blessed day that will go down in the annals of history of our community and our city,” said Farouk Joosab Arbee, secretary of the Witbank Muslim Jamaat.

Their quest for a decent sized land in an easy to reach location, to meet the needs of their worshippers began early in the year 2000.

After several attempts to purchase suitable land they managed to purchase and finally get transfer in the year 2009.

“We then built a temporary structure to accommodate our worshippers in the year 2010. We could now cater for the obligatory prayers five times a day and a mass prayer on a Friday. We then had to face further legal challenges and ultimately commenced building in late 2015 early 2016,” Arbee said.

On Saturday, February 22 an open day will be hosted at the Mosque.

The aim is to meet your neighbours, ask questions, go for a guided tour and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and some refreshments afterwards.

There is no entry fee and everyone is welcome.

The tour starts off at 10:00 followed by some questions and answers and the second tour starts at 11:30.

You are also invited to witness a congregational prayer at 13:00.

The ‘Masjid’ Mosque is situated in Dahlia Street.
