Processes to fix N4 hole have begun
The hole is situated under the road on Nelspruit direction just before the Kwa Guqa/Clewer off-ramp
The hole that formed under the National Road N4 will finally be fixed soon after it was reported to TracN4 earlier this year.
The hole is situated under the road on Nelspruit direction just before the Kwa Guqa/Clewer off-ramp.
WITBANK NEWS also reported about the issue and the safety concerns community members raised about the hole.
TracN4 released a statement that was published on Facebook earlier this year stating that the hole formed due to the theft of the steel lining in the pipe culverts, which resulted in soil erosion.
TracN4 spokeswoman Ms Solange Soares confirmed that plans to fix the hole have been put in place.
“They (TracN4 Officials) are jacking a new pipe under the road that has been stolen, and will be filling up the rest of the cavity (hole) with concrete and will be done within four weeks,” Ms Soares said.
She also highlighted that fencing has been already erected for the work area.
