Two armed robbery cases under investigation in KwaGuqa
Police urge anyone with information on either case to come forward.
The Vosman SAPS is investigating two separate armed robberies, including a violent kidnapping involving an ex-girlfriend and a shop robbery.
According to the police, a man said that on September 13 around 05:00, he was confronted by two men while returning from a tavern. He said the men assaulted him and held him at gunpoint before dragging him to a shack in KwaGuqa, where they found his ex-girlfriend and instructed him to end things with her.
It is said that they continued assaulting him, with the ex-girlfriend allegedly joining in to beat him. When they noticed him getting weak, they reportedly robbed him of his cellphone and some cash, then instructed him to leave. He said he was assisted by a passing motorist who took him to a clinic.
In another incident that occurred on September 18 around midday, a man was reportedly robbed just outside his brother’s shop in KwaGuqa while delivering stock.
The victim told the police that three armed men in a silver Volkswagen Polo confronted him at gunpoint, robbing him of cash, a cellphone, and cigarettes. The robbers drove off immediately after that.
No arrests have been made in either case, and investigations are still ongoing.
