Robbers leave empty-handed

The spike in business robberies increased in the Coal City of eMalahleni these past weeks, but for one business luck was on its side as robbers left empty-handed after an attempted robbery.
On June 10 a local business in the Central Business District (CBD) was the next target for a robbery spree as armed robbers overpowered the security guard on duty.
It is alleged that four suspects approached the guard at about 02:00 and one of the suspects pointed the guard with a firearm.
At that moment another guard on duty came upon the scene where the armed suspect was holding the firearm towards his colleague.
It is believed that the robbers then tied up the security guards with shoelaces and went inside the business building while one of them kept the two guards tied up.
After a while, the robbers came out and left the premises without anything.
The police arrived on the scene where they found a damaged drop safe but nothing was stolen.
WITBANK NEWS previously reported on a robbery that took place at the abattoir where the security guards were tied up with shoelaces as the armed robbers stole an undisclosed amount of money.
No arrests have been made and the case is still being investigated by police.
