Save a life this winter

He invites the community to assist with collecting and donating any of the following items of clothing

Good Samaritan desires to look out for the needy through charity initiative intended to donate winter ‘lifesavers’ clothes to the homeless in commemoration of 67 minutes of the forthcoming Madiba day, on Saturday, July 18.

Author of All In One Distance eLearning book, Nollan Moosa said while clothing is a common and important donation, there are many other items shelters need that are overlooked.

He invites the community to assist with collecting and donating any of the following items of clothing.

“Toiletries and hygiene products can make a huge difference, feminine hygiene products; homeless women have limited access to items such as sanitary pads. Socks are the least donated items. Undergarments, no one should have to keep the same underwear one day after day. Diapers, it is heartbreaking but babies can be homeless as well. Anyone who has had an infant knows how expensive diapers can be. Blankets a fresh and clean blanket, gloves, scarves, hats, coats – are lifesavers in winter,” he said.

The items will be donated to various shelters in the cities amongst others Ethembeni children’s home and Jabez Shelter situated in the City of Coal.

“Men’s clothing donations are also needed. Men tend to clean out their closets less often, which means fewer donations for homeless men. Sort through your clothing and donate whatever you aren’t wearing,” he added.

Members of the community, who wish to extend a helping hand, can WhatsApp Nollan through 074 342 6594 or email nollanmoosa678@gmail.com.

“Please give items that are in good condition, your kindness can make a huge difference in the lives of so many,” he pleaded.
