Businesses targeted before the festive season

The suspect that was armed instructed the employees to give them money.

Local businesses have been targeted prior the festive season and if action is not taken it might even get worse.

On Saturday, November 28 a business in Klarinet was the main source of income for four males.

It is alleged that one of the workers was attacked by four armed men driving a Nissan single cab bakkie. The four suspects took eight tyres, three generators, a compressor and two grinders. If anyone has any information about the business robbery or stolen equipment please report to the nearest police station.

Brigadier Sifuso Cele Station Commander of Witbank Police Station said:

“Businesses should be on high alert as criminals will target them during the festive season. The police launched Operation Festive Season in Mpumalanga with the theme ‘Tight grip’ and the mission to look after the well-being and the safety of all citizens in South Africa.”

Brig Cele added that they will be implementing an integrated approach to use all security forces to prevent these kinds of crimes.

Earlier in the week on Wednesday, November 25 another business was under the light for three unknown males. Allegedly two employees were on duty at a shop when disturbed by a noise one employee found three men, one being armed.

The suspect that was armed instructed the employees to give them money; they immediately showed the suspects where the money is. After leaving with the cash and cigarettes they fired two warning shots, no injuries were sustained during the robbery.
