On Friday, April 16 a large group of cyclists lined up for the start of the race at 06:15 in the historic mining village of Cullinan and they all knew they would have a long day ahead of them.

The route took the cyclists through unspoiled scenery on an open gravel road that challenged the cyclists both mentally and physically.

Cyclists would start at sunrise and will cruise into the sunset for a night ride, the temperature dropped and cyclists would have to prepare themselves for the cold.

Historically the race ended at Tonteldoos, but due to logistic reasons, the race had to finish at Dunkeld in Dullstroom.
