Water supply to be affected in many areas in eMalahleni

Greater eMalahleni is expected to experience water outages.

Over 19 areas in eMalahleni are expected to be affected by water outages. This comes after the Emalahleni Local Municipality posted the announcement on their Facebook page on Wednesday, July 13. It is said that the water challenges will be experienced in the parts of eMalahleni due to the unavailability of bulk water in the municipal system.

The municipality further said that the department has observed that as of July 1, the water augmentation schemes were not performing as expected, resulting in reservoir levels dropping.

The raw water pumping from the Witbank Dam is carried out by two pumps and one from the quarry, impacting the overall water production.

The following areas which receive supply from point C ground reservoir will be affected:

* Tasbet Park ext 1 and 12

* Dixon holdings

* Southview extensions

* Bankenveld extensions

Areas receiving water supply from Point A ground reservoir will be affected. They will include:

* Portion of Witbank Ext 10

* Marelden extensions

* Portion of Blancheville

* Klarinet extensions

* Pine Ridge

* Paxton Correctional Services

Areas which receive water from Point B ground reservoir are also on the list. These areas are:

* Clewer

* KwaGuqa new extensions, especially areas supplied from the elevated tank

* KwaGuqa extension 2 (zone 14), extension 7, 10, 11, and 18

* Empumelelweni extensions

The water supply to the following areas is supplied from Point B tower reservoir is affected:

* Witbank CBD

* Witbank Extensions 1 to 12

* Del Judor Extension 1

* Del Judor Proper

* Portion of Die Heuwel Proper

* Die Heuwel Ext 8

The municipality will arrange water tankers to assist the affected areas. More information will be provided on the Emalahleni Local Municipality’s Facebook page.
