Houses flood because small bridges in Ga-Nala are allegedly not maintained

A cry for help came in after the ‘spruit’ running through Ga-Nala flooded houses.

Residents in Ga-Nala came to the aid of homeowners whose houses flooded earlier today.

The cry for help came after consistent heavy rains in Ga-Nala as well as Bethal and Ermelo.

Resident, Mr Rudo Erasmus said the small bridges flooded in Mooilaan next to a local primary school because the local municipality does not maintain the bridges.

“The bridges blocked up with reeds and rubbish, blocking the water that then pushed over the bridges and the road into the adjacent houses,” Erasmus said.

He mentioned that the community came together and cleared up the blockages using tractors and TLBs.
