A child and driver of car die in horrific accident on old Middelburg road

The R555 between Safari Cafe and Jackaroo Park was closed for several hours.

An accident yesterday on the R555 claimed the lives of two people.

The accident happened just after 15:00 between Safari Café and Jackaroo Park when a trailer came loose from a car and plunged into an oncoming car.

The driver of the oncoming car and a child passenger were killed in the accident.

The road was closed and the traffic department as well as Blancheville neighbourhood watch diverted traffic through Blancheville.

Bophelo Emergency Medical Services tended to the patients and transferred them to a nearby hospital.

“This accident is really bad and heartbreaking because children are involved,” Mr Charl Smith from the neighbourhood watch said.
