Avbob empowers early childhood development centres on Mandela Day

'Let us reach out to the children. Let us do whatever we can to support their fight to rise above their pain and suffering', said Nelson Mandela.

Avbob, a renowned mutual society, embraces the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy by recognising the crucial role of Early Childhood Development (ECD) in shaping the future of children.

On Tuesday, July 18, Avbob staff united to make a lasting impact on South Africa’s generations to come, supporting nine ECD centres nationwide.

Here in eMalahleni, they commemorated the 67 minutes of service by dedicating their time and energy to Hlalanathi Pre-School.

Hlalanathi was blessed by the following: The Avbob staff actively participated in improving infrastructure, engaging in lighter aspects such as indoor art, painting, crafts, and murals, which will create an inspiring and visually stimulating environment for the children.

Avbob also installed wash stations at the pre-school, while also educating the children on maintaining good sanitation and hygiene habits, such as hand washing, which is vital for their well-being.

To promote self-sustainability, Avbob assisted in preparing the soil and establishing vegetable gardens at the preschool. These gardens will not only provide fresh produce for the children, but also teach them valuable lessons about nature, nutrition, and self-reliance.

Additionally, Avbob staff actively engaged in meal provision, preparing nourishing lunch meals and party packs for the children.

Avbob stated that they recognise the pivotal role that the EDC phase plays in the development of children. It is for this reason that the activities for Mandela Day are anchored around the implementation of the Avbob ECD Programme.
