A man appeared before Witbank Magistrate’s Court this morning (August 2) after he was arrested trying to rob a restaurant holding a toy gun. 

The suspect entered the restaurant in the central business district and pretended to be a customer. 

“He pulled out an object which resembled a firearm, put it on the counter, and demanded cash,” said SAPS provincial spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

The cashier’s colleagues activated a panic button and security arrived just in time to arrest the man.
