Awareness raised at TP Sililo
A chief dignitary from the Mrhetjha Royal House, Ndabezitha Nsizwa Mahlangu also attended the event.
Thomas Percy Sililo Secondary School has a firm stance regarding Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and drug and alcohol abstinence amongst the youth.
The school enforced its stance when it hosted an awareness campaign in conjunction with the Nkangala District Municipality in the school hall at the beginning of the month.
Learners were visited by members of the local police station and had an informative two-hour lecture from various stakeholders on the importance of the learners abstaining from drug use, the impact gender-based violence has on society, and the repercussions one could face if found guilty of such acts.

A chief dignitary from the Mrhetjha Royal House, Ndabezitha Nsizwa Mahlangu also attended the event and addressed the learners on substance abuse and gender-based violence.
The Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), Love Life, and members of the local police were also in attendance.
The school principal, Mr Herbert Mkandawiri, said that the event had been very informative and positively impacted the learners.
“I am very thankful for programmes promoting drug and alcohol awareness and shining a light on gender-based violence. The children are made aware of whom they can contact when facing challenges. GBV and drug abuse should never be allowed,” concluded the school’s principal.
