Local NPO host motor and sound show at HTS

The family-themed event was hosted to give back to people in need.

Solidarity Helping Hand recently held its much-anticipated motor and sound show.

The thumping car show managed to get eMalahleni’s car enthusiasts to polish their best cars and rev engines at Hoër Tegniese Skool.

The family-styled outdoor event drew more than 9 000 spectators, who were treated to numerous food, market, and refreshment stalls.

 

Solidarity Helping Hand secretary, event organiser and coordinator Jackie Potgieter said the purpose of the event was to raise funds to assist students in need, “I would like to thank Michael Ludick and Roedolf Esterhuizen for allowing me with so much faith to put the show together. Together we make a mean team and I have so much respect for you two. Thank you also to all our sponsors who have contributed – Next year we do it all over again,” she said.

The car show was also graced by the fastest drag racing car in Mpumalanga. Leon du Plooy, the owner of the Nissan Champ Toyota 4AGE powered engine, has a record-breaking 7.861s on the quarter mile and 280.03km/h on the 1.4 mile.
