Emalahleni Men of Destiny looking for volunteers

Pastor Mahlangu urged men to join Emalahleni Men of Destiny to protect children from any kind of abuse, adopt fatherless children, and be role models to these children.

Emalahleni Men of Destiny with the theme ‘Gear for Change, Youth Unity,’ wants to turn things around in eMalahleni.

They believe that as eMalahleni is known for all the bad things, they want to change all that.

eMalahleni is well-known for its high use of drugs, alcohol abuse, high crime rates, and high rate of teenage pregnancies.

“It is a hot spot of crisis as if there are no men. There are men and fathers, but most do nothing. Our boys are grieving in the streets like snakes as if they don’t have parents. Young girls became mothers at the age of 12 years. What kind of society are we building? Millions of children are growing up without both their parents because of teenage pregnancy, divorce and immediate separation. Schools face crisis after crisis of bullying, which affects innocent children and the operation of the schools. Misbehaviour of learners towards educators is rife in our schools because of lack of proper parenting,” says Pastor Isaac Mahlangu, founder of Emalahleni Men of Destiny.

Pastor Mahlangu added that during their visits to schools, they have found cases of children being abused, young boys at age nine involved in gangsterism, boys staying with their grandmothers lacking a father figure in the family, girls having children at a very young age and leaving them with their grandmothers and many other bad examples.

In one of the cases, a nine-year-old girl was left with a four-month-old baby after the mother disappeared and was believed to be staying with her boyfriend.

Babies are abandoned by their mothers and some children are abused, leading them to grow with anger and aggression towards other children.

Pastor Mahlangu urged men to join Emalahleni Men of Destiny to protect children from any kind of abuse, adopt fatherless children, and be role models to these children.

“We need young people, sons and daughters, young men and women who are willing to become life skills character builders at schools coaching and counsellors for our children. We need volunteers to grant change to eMalahleni next year,’’ Pastor Mahlangu said.

Pastor Mahlangu can be contacted at: 076 391 3247 or 071 529 8219.
