“Fika Uphila, Arrive Alive,”says the MEC for Roads and Safety

Arrive Alive these Easter Holidays.

As the Easter weekend approaches, people may need to adhere to safety protocols on the road to minimise road accidents that may arise while travelling to their designated areas.

The Mpumalanga province, during the national Easter weekend, according to the statistics could massively experience traffic convoys as people from different locations, and provinces will be moving in and out of the province.

According to the reports, last national Easter weekend, Mpumalanga hit a record of approximately 10-15 fatal crashes, two more than the same in the weekend of 2022.

The fatalities in Mpumalanga in the Easter weekend of 2023, were about 17, with an increase of 21% change compared to the year 2022.

“I wish all road users who will be traveling throughout the province during this Easter season to do so safely,” said Mandla Ndlovu, the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport in Mpumalanga.

The MEC gave out a piece of advice for those who will be using the road to obey the safety road and transport measures.

This coming weekend is referred to as one of the busiest time weekends, and therefore it is highly advisable to follow the safety rules that are set.

Ensure that you are fit for the road.

Your vehicle is road-worthy.
