Family demands justice for murdered sons

One of the three suspects reportedly involved in a double murder in KwaGuqa Extension is still at large.

Nomvula Radebe, a grieving mother, and her family are demanding justice after the tragic and senseless murder of their beloved sons, Mbongeni Radebe (30) and Nkosinathi Mayela (31).

“It’s a nightmare we can’t wake up from. They have left us devastated, and we cannot rest until they are held accountable for their heinous actions,” said Radebe.

She described the happenings of that fatal night to WITBANK NEWS.

She said on Saturday night, March 30, three attackers allegedly crashed through their window and door and forced their way into the house while the family slept.

They allegedly targeted Mbongeni, claiming retaliation for a supposed arson incident, and dragged him out of the house despite his desperate screams.

“When I begged them to leave my son alone, the suspects beat me mercilessly with a gun. They later took him with them, and he never returned home alive. There was no need to kill them because it was not the house that burnt; it was only the TV and other stuff, which we could of replaced,” Radebe said.

Mayela, too, faced the wrath of the alleged suspects as he was assaulted before managing to escape, only to succumb to his injuries days later in the hospital.

“They didn’t just assault my sons; they tortured them,” said Radebe.

The Radebe family’s suffering gets worse with the persistent dread that one suspect is still at large, “We live in continual worry, knowing that one of the suspects is still out there while only two suspects have been arrested,” she said.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, urged members of the public to remain calm while allowing justice to take its course.

Thembinkosi Musia (23) and Prince Ratau (25) appeared at the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 2. They were remanded in custody, pending further proceedings scheduled for April 9.

Mayela and Radebe were laid to rest on Saturday, April 6.
