Christmas in July 2024 a huge success

Big 5 Guesthouse's Christmas in July was a hit for the eighth year running

It was certainly cold enough for snow to make it a white Christmas in July, but even in the absence of snowflakes, the Glühwein and warm spirits of everyone who attended the eighth annual Big 5 Guest House’s Christmas in July event were kept very warm with merriment and extraordinary stalls and food – if you weren’t there, you definitely missed out.

The annual event was held on Saturday, July 6, at the guest house in Woltemade Street. The festivities could be heard all throughout the neighbourhood. With a live band under the trees, mouth-watering food and an array of delicious drinks on offer, the joie de vivre of everyone genuinely made it feel like the happiest season of all, and gave everyone the needed boost for the next six months, until the real Christmas will be knocking at the door.

“The day was fantastic! I will definitely be going again. It is a wonderful event to bring your children to,” said Palesa Nhlapho.

Stalls selling everything from unique hand-made gifts, to amazing organic honey were on offer, and if by chance you didn’t find anything you fancy to buy, the weather was absolutely perfect to enjoy the Long Dog gin or beer which is expertly hand-crafted by the owners of the guest house.

A lot of effort went into turning an ordinary July day into a Christmas wonderland for all to enjoy, and if you required any assistance, one of the elves would be more than willing to assist. This is an event not to be missed, and if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones who didn’t attend, be sure not to miss it next year.

“Christmas in July 2024 was a huge success and all the people enjoyed it very much. We want to thank the community for their support. Our team at Anelli’s Tea Garden and Big5 Guest House was outstanding with their hard work to prepare for this event and on the day. We are looking forward to next year. Save the date, July 5, 2025,” was the final word from host of the event, Anel Kiley.
