Using sport to heal trauma
Eyasa NPO using sports to heal trauma and prevent addiction
Eyasa NPO gave back for their 67 minutes on Mandela Day by arranging an action-packed, fun, and healthy sporting day at Nkangala Inpatient Treatment Centre (NITC).
Eyasa believes that through sport and the social aspects that come from it, patients can be healed from past trauma, which leads to depression and eventually addiction problems in some people.

Eyasa is on a mission to make a difference in the lives of young people, as they are the future of the country.
It is in their hands that everything rests.
The event was held in partnership with the Department of Social Development and eMalahleni Local Drug Action Committee (eLDAC) to commemorate Mandela Day’s 67 minutes with patients undergoing rehabilitation at NITC.

Tennis courts that were donated by former premier Refilwe Mtsweni and former MEC Lindiwe Ntshalintshali were used to host the sporting events.
“We at Eyasa believe that through sport, we socialise and work as a team to heal our past traumas and stress. As eLDAC we won’t rest until eMalahleni and Mpumalanga statistics drop from number two, led by Western Cape in number one,” said Crosswell Libazi of Eyasa.
