Mixed emotions: Victim's family reacts to 2-year sentence for Sechefo

Lebohang Victor Sechefo, (44) received a two-year sentence this afternoon for brutally assaulting Abongile Aliseng, (38)at her Empumelelweni Ext 12 home in August. Sechefo used a broken beer bottle to inflict serious injuries on Aliseng’s face and hands.

Aliseng expressed mixed emotions about the sentencing, saying, “I don’t know how I’m feeling. I feel like we have fought but didn’t achieve anything. We are still far from winning the Gender-Based Violence battle because of our justice system.”

Sechefo pleaded guilty to the assault GBH case on November 5, during the pretrial before Court-C, expressing regret for his actions.
