Police arrest 4 for alleged stolen bank cards

Four suspects were arrested after police allegedly found 68 stolen bank cards in their possession.

Four suspects were arrested on the N4 near Belfast after an intelligence-driven operation uncovered 68 suspected stolen bank cards in their vehicle.

The operation was conducted by Crime Intelligence, Witbank Tactical Response Team, Middelburg Flying Squad, and a tracking company.

According to police reports, the investigation began when a reliable source told authorities about bank cards stored in a house in Siyanqoba in eMalahleni.

Surveillance confirmed this information, and at 06:00 on Tuesday, November 19, the suspects were seen loading the cards into a vehicle.

After a lengthy pursuit, the vehicle was cornered on the N4 en route to Mbombela.

The suspects were arrested on the spot.

They are expected to appear before Belfast Magistrate’s Court soon, with potential additional charges pending further investigation.

Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, praised the operation and said, “We are well prepared to clamp down on criminal activities this festive season and beyond. Criminals must know that they have no space in Mpumalanga.”
