The #Donor100 Challenge was at Saveways Donor Centre on Saturday, November 16.
Blood donors came out in their numbers to support and be part of the #Donor100 Challenge.
The team from Saveways Donor Centre opened its doors to donors who participated in ‘Bail In, Jail Out’, in which someone was jailed, and donors had to donate blood to bail them out.

Willem Meintjies from Witbank Provincial Ambulance Services was jailed and needed blood donors to release him, “I requested my whole team from the ambulance services to come and bail me out,” he said.
Nadia Fourie (41) shared that it was her first time donating blood.

She also highlighted that she is an organ donor, “I feel so positive although I was a little nervous because it was my first time, and my husband encouraged me that it’s for the greater good.”
René Tzhauzen, alongside her daughter Desiree, shared that she has been a blood donor for over 10 years and her daughter for just over a year.

“We feel proud that we can contribute to society and help someone who needs help,” Rene and Desiree shared.
René wished to motivate non-donors to consider donating because most people who need blood are in pain.

Thina Tuoane, a Donor Relations Practitioner at the SANBS, wished to thank all those who participated in making ‘Bail In, Jail Out’ a success.
“Our target was to get 100 units, and we received 93. We would like to thank the jailers’ recruited donors,” Thina said.
She ended by highlighting that on Saturday, November 30, the centre will be at KG Mall.
“We will be hosting a nationwide promotion to get 5 000 units of blood, so we are asking for as many donors as possible to come and participate,” Thina pleaded.
