Empowered youth programme celebrates milestone with 80 graduates
Grade 7 learners who finished the Empowered Youth Program recently attended a graduation ceremony held by the non-profit organisation The Calling Ministry.
The Calling Ministry, a non-profit organisation, recently hosted a graduation ceremony for 80 primary school learners who completed the Empowered Youth Programme.
The programme, designed to prepare learners for high school, aims to inspire them to strive for tertiary education.
The event took place on Friday, November 22, and the ceremony was attended by parents, teachers, and supporters as a form of the learner’s achievements.
The learners from Vuma and Khonzimfundo Primary Schools shared their experiences and the valuable lessons they learned during the programme.
Pastor Kgaogelo Mokwena, founder of the Calling Ministry, expressed his delight with the event’s outcome, “I am thrilled with how the event unfolded. The highlights were the students sharing what they learned, the words of encouragement, and the parent’s support in celebrating the learner’s achievements”.
The success of the programme is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the principals, Ms Xolisile Mtshali and Mrs Alice Gopi, Grade 7 teachers, Nobayeni Thwala along with Fundo Mlotshwa, and the team that supported the graduation ceremony.
“I am actually bridging the gap between preschool graduation. Something to inspire the kids in the middle. Because most of us graduated at preschool, then only at tertiary institutions,” said Mokwena.
Special thanks to Tebogo and Sarah Ratau for their financial support in printing certificates and capturing the special day.
Throughout the year, the learners attended empowerment sessions every quarter, tackling critical topics such as drug awareness, bullying, and abuse.
The Empowered Youth Programme has made a significant impact on the learners, equipping them with valuable life skills and a strong foundation for their future academic pursuits.
As the graduates embark on their high school journey, the Calling Ministry remains committed to supporting and empowering them to reach their full potential.
