The Emalahleni Local Municipality issued reports that a power outage has occurred due to the explosion of the Doornpoort 11kV switchgear.

The incident was reported today (January 7), resulting in loss of electricity supply to several areas.

The affected areas are: Highveld Park, Die Heuwel Ext 4, parts of Model Park, and Seekoeiwater Plots.

Municipal technicians are on site to investigate the cause of the explosion and to initiate repairs. However at this stage, no estimated time for restoration of power supply is available.
