Long road to recovery for Mandela Road crash victim

Young mom's family are faced with the unknown after doctors told them that she sustained a brain injury during the Mandela Road crash.

The young mom who was injured in a car crash earlier this year is out of the ICU.

Judy Scheepers (24), who is the mom of twin boys (4), was a passenger in a towing truck that was involved in the crash on January 2.

She and her fiancée, towing truck driver Jaco Greyling responded to an accident near Witbank Dam when they were involved in the crash.

Scheepers suffered severe injuries to her brain, lung, and abdomen, a rib puncturing her left lung, a broken jawbone, shattered teeth, and multiple broken bones.

Doctors found that she had brain damage.

“Judy is very emotional because she does not know what is happening. She cries a lot. There is a long road to recovery ahead,” her sister Virichka Radyn said.

Mahlomola Motaung, who drove the BMW, is recovering after his operation.

He sustained injuries to his eyes, mouth, chest, and legs.

According to his wife, Mumsy Masango, he is doing well.

Motaung was on his way to buy water from Pick n Pay when he was involved in the crash at the traffic lights at River Crescent Shopping Centre.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.
