Improving awareness of stroke will save lives

Maintaining your overall health is the best way to reduce your stroke risk.

The Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) Worship House held a Stroke Awareness Day, bringing together health professionals and congregants to educate and support individuals and families affected by stroke.

Speaking on behalf of the church, Roshica Koopman, said, “Stroke awareness day is an important opportunity to educate congregants about stroke prevention, symptoms, and recovery, as well as to provide support for individuals and families affected by stroke.”

The event on March 8 featured presentations from health professionals, including doctors, neurologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists. Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalized advice.

“We as the church often play a central role in the lives of many individuals, making them ideal settings to raise awareness and foster a sense of care and support for those impacted by stroke,” she added.
