Nocturne celebrates health, sustainability, and connection

Women’s Agricultural Union Nocturne branch hosts successful get-together

The Women’s Agricultural Union, Nocturne branch, recently held a successful get-together at Vinkel and Koljander.

Back: Susan Langeveldt, Pat May, Hester Pretorius, Lizette de Beer. Front: Mariette van Niekerk, Lenie Swan, Ernastine Otto, and Elana van den Berg.

The meeting, which took place on March 6, was themed ‘Dandelion’ and featured a presentation by Theresa-Lee Kruger on the benefits of dandelion.

According to Theresa, dandelion benefits the liver, and kidneys, and prevents heat strokes.

“It is consumed as tea and drunk daily,” she explained.

The oldest member of the branch, Katy Symms, was given a gift by the branch’s chairperson, Wilma van Zyl.

Katy will ‘retire’ from the branch.

Wilma noted, “In the hardest times, we grow the most”.

A screen-printing class on denim material was a highlight of the event, and the skills learned will be useful for the ladies’ recycling project using used denim.
