“Teenage pregnancy and drug abuse have become major challenges in our community, making it difficult for parents to control their children,” Themba said, adding that they organised the event to raise awareness and encourage support for children who need rehabilitation services or any help from the community.

The centre works closely with local authorities, social services, and religious leaders to provide a broad approach to addressing these issues.

Pastor Mandla Ngcobo, who leads the youth in a church in Vosman, highlighted the importance of engaging young people in positive activities such as sports, “We saw the need for our youth to participate in sports and other activities that keep them busy and focused,” he said.

The community expressed excitement about how the event went as the youth came in numbers, with confidence that they learned from all the discussions they had and will apply the advice in their lives going forward.

“The aim is to improve the future of our youth, and if we continue to work together as a community to support our children, we will reach greater heights,” said a community member, in expression of her gratitude for the event.
