Man nabbed for alleged possession of unlicensed firearm and stolen vehicle in Thubelihle

A man found out that you cannot hide from the long arm of the law.

The police recently arrested a suspect who was allegedly found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and stolen vehicle at Thubelihle in Ga-Nala.

On the morning of June 11, the police received a tip-off about a suspicious vehicle occupied by two allegedly armed men that was spotted at Extension 5, with no registration plates.

By the time the police arrived at the address the vehicle had already left, but the police put their shoulder on the wheel and started searching. A short while later the car collided with a Toyota Quantum and the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

The police managed to apprehend one suspect who was allegedly found in possession of a firearm, but the other one is still on the run.

In the vehicle, a second firearm and a knife were allegedly found, with further investigations revealing that the vehicle had been reported stolen in another area.

The arrested suspect is expected to appear at Kriel Magistrate’s Court on June 13.
