eMalahleni residents to walk to Durban in five days

The duo is set to hit the N3 route to eThekwini in less than six days.

Two local residents from eMalahleni will be walking to Durban (uShaka Marine) on Sunday. The residents are Boy Ndlovu and Joseph Makwiting. According to Boy, the 618 kilometres walk will only take them five days.
With each step, the two residents aim to represent and raise funds for a local orphanage home in Pine Ridge, Maddressa Tuk Umar.

“There are 28 kids inside the shelter, and some of them are sleeping on the floor in this coldness,” said Ndlovu.

According to Sonto Nyembezi, the founder of the orphanage home, the Durban walk was the idea of the two guys, and she wishes them well on this journey.

“They wanted to try a different approach, as we have always been trying to obtain sponsors around our city. They want more people to recognise us, and if the walk is what they feel like will help us, then they have my go-ahead,” Sonto said.

The duo is set to depart from eMalahleni CBD on July 6, at 08:00.
