Darkness awaits large parts of eMalahleni as planned outages roll out
Large parts of eMalahleni will be without electricity tomorrow.
A day without electricity soon awaits residents from large parts of eMalahleni, following a planned power outage by Eskom.
Just after the planned outage at Seeke Substation announced by the Emalahleni Local Municipality for August 28, Eskom has also scheduled another power outage for the same day from 08:00 to 19:00, putting large parts of the City of Coal in the dark.
The planned power outage will affect communities feeding from Doornpoort Feeder one and two.
The areas that will be affected include: River Crescent Centre, Del Judor extensions, Modelpark extensions, Die Heuwel extensions, Highveld Park extensions, Reyno Ridge extensions, OK Centre, Eden Park Retirement Village, Witbank Extensions, Pick & Pay Hyper, Highland Mews, Water Pump Stations, Witbank Dam, Bankenveld Estate, Bankenveld Golf Estate, N4 Business Park, Ben Fleur Boulevard, Corridor Hill, The Ridge Casino, Highveld Mall, Ridgeview, Duvha Park Ext 1, 2, 7 & 8, Spring Valley Ext 1, 2, 7 & 8, Tasbet Park Ext. 1 & 12, Pro Housing, Point S Package Plant and Point C, Witbank Extensions 5, 8, 16 and 41, and Seekoeiwater Plots.
However, according to the municipality, the list of affected areas may change due to ring feeds within the network. Residents in affected areas are cautioned that the electrical network must be treated as live at all times during the outage period.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we carry out this essential maintenance to improve the reliability of our power supply,” the municipality said.
