Witbank Dam was at 97.1% this morning, and 65mm of rain was measured at the dam over the weekend.

Following yesterday’s heavy storm, many readers were eager to know the official rainfall measurements.

In Tasbet Park, veteran weather observer Cross Basson, who has been meticulously taking rain gauge readings for the past 34 years, recorded 42mm of rain following the recent hectic storm.

The total for November alone reached 159mm, with rain falling on 15 different days throughout the month.

The overall rainfall measured by Basson for the year so far is a remarkable 869mm, recorded over a total of 88 rainy days.

The annual average rainfall usually sits at approximately 776mm across an average of 57 rainy days.

The current year-to-date total of 869mm – with a month still remaining – is already 93mm above the typical annual average, highlighting an unusually wet period for Tasbet Park residents.
