Armed duo targets motorcyclist outside Klipfontein tuck shop

The motorcyclist had parked outside a tuck shop in Klipfontein when he was attacked by two men who held him at gunpoint.

Witbank SAPS is investigating an incident in which a man was robbed of his motorcycle and cellphone outside a tuck shop.

The incident occurred on March 2, around 19:30, when the man parked his motorcycle next to a tuck shop in Klipfontein.

Just after parking, he said he noticed two men approaching whom he believed had also come to buy from the shop.

The man said the situation turned violent in a sudden as one pointed him with a firearm. While held at gunpoint, the victim was reportedly robbed of his cellphone and motorcycle, which the robbers used to flee from the scene.

Investigations into the case are underway.

Captain Eddie Hall, Witbank SAPS spokesperson shared the following preventative measures for delivery bikers:
Stay aware of your surroundings
Do not stop in isolated places
Use tracking and panic alerts
Ride in pairs or groups in high-risk areas
Avoid predictable routines
Trust your instincts

Additionally, Hall advised, “Always scan the road and people around you when slowing down or stopping.”

He added that riders should also be extra alert when approaching dark streets, quiet areas, or informal settlements where criminals may wait.
