14 schools gather for Kragbron’s mini-sports day

Kragbron welcomed kids from different schools in Emalahleni and surrounding areas for a fun day of netball and rugby.

Laerskool Kragbron was buzzing with energy and excitement this past weekend as they hosted their annual Mini-Netball and Pumaki Rugby Day.

The mini festival day on May 16 brought together 14 schools and approximately 1 200 children, affording them a chance to enjoy the sports in a low-pressure and fun environment.

“It was just a fun day for the children to enjoy and learn the skills to play netball and rugby,” said Elma Potgieter, a Kragbron mini-netball convenor.

Children from U6 up to U9 age groups took to the rugby fields and netball courts to play, learn, and grow, as the day focused less on competition and more on participation and developing a love for the sports.

“We are very excited to have hosted the day; the children were also very excited to be here and play with their friends,” Elma said.
