Swift action taken in Santa Village after Mayor Nhlapho’s walkabout

Since the walkabout conducted in Santa, the municipality has so far succeeded in solving issues of water, with promises to continue to work towards resolving the other concerns.

Emalahleni Mayor Vusi Nhlapho’s recent walkabout in Santa Village is already yielding results, as municipal teams have already made tangible progress in attending to the cries of the residents.

The MMC for Technical Services, Thabang Mathebula, confirmed that since the walkabout on May 26, they have succeeded in solving the issue of water in the area.

“The issue of taps has now been sorted,” Mathebula said, adding that he also sent a TLB and trucks to work on the pathways.

However, though there already is progress, the MMC indicated that it will become a trial of patience for some of the issues to be fixed, but they will continue to put in all the necessary effort to keep to their promise

During the walkabout, the mayor and his committee visited the area to assess the residents’ living conditions and engaged with them on service delivery challenges.

Among the complaints and pleas raised by the residents were issues of electricity, water, sewer, pathways, and houses, among others.

“The aim of the walkabouts is to bring change. There should be a difference once we’ve left an area,” Nhlapho said during a briefing they had.
