Municipality cracks down on non-compliance in Ward 22
The initiative focused on infrastructure protection and revenue recovery, as the municipality intensified compliance monitoring in Ward 22.
The Emalahleni Local Municipality has issued a strong warning that non-compliance with municipal by-laws will no longer be tolerated, as enforcement operations continue across the city.
On May 26, Mayor Clr Vusi Nhlapho leads a compliance operation with MMCs and municipal officials in Ward 22 targeting illegal businesses, unpaid municipal accounts, incorrect zoning, and properties suspected of unlawful occupation.

The operation included on-site inspections and direct engagement with property owners and business operators flagged for non-compliance. Municipal teams moved through the area identifying and addressing violations linked to service usage and property regulation breaches.
The municipality confirmed that similar operations will continue across all wards, with increased focus on ensuring that residents and businesses comply with municipal regulations and pay for services used.
