Lindiwe moves from unemployed mother to celebrated beauty expert
“Because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean it can’t be done,” said Lindiwe Dhladhla.
Lindiwe Dhladhla from Ackerville has used her unfortunate experience of broken dreams, unemployment, and parenting as fuel to pave her journey to being a celebrated beauty expert.
The 32-year-old mother of two said that before she could realise her passion for the beauty industry, she was a performing artist, acting and writing poetry.
“In 2014 I trained for filming, and that was when I realised that apart from acting I’m actually passionate about the art department, being it makeup, wardrobe, and set design,” she said.
However, due to the harsh realities of life that things don’t always go the way we expect, she said she would shoot productions; they would not be released, and she attended countless auditions without luck.
“I had to sleep and dream again,” she said.
“I remember having my baby in 2016, unemployed. I told myself that if I worked in retail, I would work in the makeup section.”
Fast forward: Lindiwe is now a celebrated makeup artist at a store in a local mall and the founder of a beauty studio, where she doesn’t just do makeup; “we serve, and we sell a luxurious experience.”

She said that, though balancing work, business, motherhood, spirituality, and social life isn’t easy, she continues to take it one day at a time, keeping a diary and praying about it.
“There’s nothing I want more than to show my family that it’s possible. I want to provide the best lifestyle for my children,” the artist said.

Appreciating everyone who continues to support her on her journey, the mother said it remains her biggest goal to host masterclasses across the country, open branches of the makeup studio, and become one of the best makeup artists in the country.
To other aspiring artists, Lindiwe recommends going back to the drawing board, dreaming again, and using whatever skill or talent you have consistently.
“Because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Those who are afraid of taking risks and exploring new things will never make a significant achievement in life,” she said.
