Rose-giving for Mandela Day as Mmasechaba leads celebration in style

Joining forces with All Voices Matter and a local florist, the team managed to put smiles on the faces of those who needed it the most.

Jumbo Mall was the place to be on July 18 as local heroes hit the ground to put smiles on the faces of shoppers.

The special gesture was part of a Mandela Day celebration led by Mmasechaba Makua, who referred to it as “Rose-giving Day”.

“It was a heartfelt initiative dedicated to spreading smiles and joy throughout eMalahleni,” Makua said.

During the initiative, ladies received roses and gentlemen were gifted chocolates, symbolising love, hope, and kindness.

Makua shared that each rose represented a promise of better days ahead, while every piece of chocolate reminded recipients of life’s sweetness.

“The gesture embodied the spirit of Madiba, inspiring the community to embrace compassion and unity in everyday life,” said Makua.

The event was made possible through partnerships with the Zama Foundation for Communities, All Voices Matter, and a local florist company, whose collective efforts turned a simple act of giving into a message of humanity and hope.
