Community turns out for dog walk and adoption day
Four sweet dogs are still up for adoption at the SPCA Witbank.
Local animal lovers turned out in numbers this past weekend for a community dog walk and adoption day aimed at raising awareness for shelter dogs in need of homes.
The event, hosted by the SPCA, combined a walk with an adoption drive, drawing support from volunteers, families and potential adopters.
SPCA chairperson Carika van Rooyen expressed gratitude for the turnout, saying the interest shown on the day proves that adopting truly saves lives.

4 dogs still need homes
Despite the success, four of the shelter’s longest-stay dogs remain without homes – Stewart, Saartjie, Grizzly and Licorice – all described as gentle and friendly.

“Thank you to everyone who participated in our dog walk and for all the interest shown in our adoption day. Our longest residents still need a miracle,” Van Rooyen said.
