Police arrest more than 20 in eMalahleni multidisciplinary operation
The suspects are expected to appear in various magistrates’ courts in the Nkangala District soon.
A multidisciplinary operation in eMalahleni yielded 21 arrests this past weekend.
The operation, led by police in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders from September 16 to 20, was aimed at tracing and arresting suspects linked to carjackings, motor vehicle theft, house robberies, and other serious and violent crimes in the Nkangala District.
Suspects face charges ranging from attempted murder to robbery and assault. Two suspects were found in possession of unlicensed firearms.
Police confiscated two pistols with ammunition, which will undergo ballistic testing to determine whether they were used in the commission of other crimes.

Police also arrested a suspect found in possession of a Hyundai H1 minibus that had been reported stolen in Brakpan earlier this month.
All arrested suspects are expected to appear in various magistrates’ courts in the Nkangala District soon.
Mpumalanga SAPS provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise praised the team’s efforts.
“The simultaneous operations in Witbank and Vosman demonstrate our integrated approach to fighting crime. We remain steadfast in our efforts to eradicate violent crimes and ensure the safety of communities across Mpumalanga. I commend all members and our partners for their dedication and vigilance which led to these significant arrests and recovery,” Modise said.
