Sassa launches self-service digital platform for life certification

Through the digital platform, beneficiaries will be able to complete their life certification from the comfort of their homes.

Sassa has introduced a way to enable beneficiaries to access e-life certification through an easy electronic platform, saving them from standing in long queues.

According to Senzeni Ngubeni, the Sassa Mpumalanga spokesperson, the agency has prepared the online system in a way that allows it to function very smoothly without glitches.

The e-life certification is said to be a self-service digital platform that permits beneficiaries to complete their life certification, which verifies the existence of a client and determines if he or she qualifies to get a social grant.

“The system is linked to the Department of Home Affairs, and once the process is approved, the beneficiary continues to receive a social grant,” said Regional Executive Manager (REM) Abraham Mahlangu. “These services will be beneficial to save on traveling costs and time. Though the service has been implemented, the agency is not chasing away beneficiaries to visit local offices.”

Mahlangu assured that those who might experience challenges with accessing the e-life certification will always be assisted at local Sassa offices.

The REM further explained that through the Know Your Client program, they are able to clamp down on bogus and ghost beneficiaries who keep benefiting fraudulently.

For more information, beneficiaries are advised to contact the toll-free line during working hours at 0800 60 10 11.
