Motorbike riders are now among targets in eMalahleni hijacking trend

Motorbike riders are increasingly becoming victims of hijackings across eMalahleni. Bikers are urged to stay cautious, as criminals are now after two wheels as well.

Motorbike drivers are increasingly being targeted in a growing wave of hijackings in eMalahleni.

In the latest incident in Klipfontein two-armed men hijacked a Big Boy motorbike at gunpoint outside a home on Fouche Street.

According to the police, around 20:00 the victim had just returned from work and was opening his gate when a vehicle stopped nearby.

Two men exited the vehicle and approached him. He noticed that the men were armed with firearms. They then moved toward his motorbike, managed to start it, and fled the scene.

Police advise, “Be alert when approaching gates or driveways. Avoid routines that may be easily monitored by criminals. Report suspicious vehicles or persons immediately. Ensure gates and surroundings are well-lit where possible. Never resist armed suspects during a robbery.”

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact their nearest police station.
