Boanerges MCC hosts roaring successful maiden ‘dayjol’

300 bikers gathered for Boanerges MCC’s first-ever dayjol, marking the start of what the club plans to grow into an annual celebration of unity.

About 300 bikers from across South Africa came together this weekend as the Boanerges MCC hosted its first-ever dayjol, a gathering aimed at uniting riders, friends, and the public for a day of fellowship and shared passion for biking.

The event on May 2, which included visitors from as far as Newcastle, marked a major milestone for the club and is set to become an annual tradition.

“This was our first dayjol, and it will happen every year from now on,” said Dippies Dippenaar, national president of Boanerges MCC.

The club, led by Hentie Viljoen, emphasised that the goal of the event was not competition or performance, but unity and connection among bikers.

“We don’t really have a highlight. The aim is to bring bikers together for one day to spend time among other bikers and friends. The public has always been welcome to attend,” Dippies said.

Organisers confirmed that feedback from attendees will be used to improve future events.

“Next time, the aim is to do it better and bigger. We have listened to the visitors and will implement as they suggested,” he added.

Beyond riding events, the club is also active in outreach projects, supporting vulnerable communities.

“We are involved with a few small projects whereby we hand out food and visit homes of people suff ering because of health,” he said.
