Helicopter lands on N12 near Phola as emergency rescue unfolds after multiple fog-related crashes

A medical helicopter has now landed on the N12 just past Phola as emergency services carry out an urgent airlift operation for a critically injured patient following a series of accidents earlier this morning.
About six crashes were reported along the stretch of the N12 due to dense fog and extremely poor visibility, which created hazardous driving conditions and led to multiple collisions.

No fatalities have been confirmed at this stage. Traffic officials and emergency responders remain on scene managing the situation, with parts of the highway affected by ongoing emergency operations.
Motorists are strongly urged to avoid the N12 near Phola entirely, as the area remains active with rescue work and traffic disruptions following the earlier pile-ups.
